Story Behind The "Tribute" Litter
A A Tribute to Kishniga Borzoi
My first two Borzoi that are pictured above ( Niko and Ely ) were line bred Kishniga which began my love affair with stunning Tri Borzoi. These two Boiz took me on a journey that would last over 30 years and take me to the present and a wonderful partnership with Janis and Patti.
Recently, Kayo and I had been on what we call "Tri Alert" looking for a beautiful Tri boy to use for our Miss Zillia when she was ready to be bred. During that search, we saw a lovely girl that was bred by Dick Meen and Janis Neilson and now residing and co-owned with Patti Fitzgerald in New York. Of course this would not work for Zillia but on our watch list she went, for when this girl would be bred. We could possibly get a puppy to use in the future.
Well as fate turns out, Patti was looking for a Zoi Boy to breed to her and Janis stunning Tri girl Skye - CA GCH AM CH Kishniga's Millenium Gal the #1 Borzoi in Canada for 2020!
I was on Facebook during the AKC National Championship Show that's held each December in Florida ( which Kayo attends ), saw a picture of Patti with her bitch Skye and recognized the carpet! I immediately called Kayo who was there and told her to find Patti and introduce herself so she could get eyes on this stunning Tri girl and meet Patti in person.
The rest is Kismet as we then spent much time on the phone discussing pedigrees, our love for the Kishniga lineage and type. I offered the suggestion of a lovely stud male from our Precious Gems litter who lives in Washington, Sedona Obsidian. Not only were Patti and Janis agreeable, it was then that she and Janis offered the opportunity for Kayo and I to be partners with this significant breeding and have our kennel name on a selection of the offspring. Skye was the last bitch that Dick Meen ever bred. To say this was an honor is an understatement. Kayo and I are proud and honored to be a part of this Tribute breeding to help continue the journey and legacy of the Kishniga heritage into the future.
